FAQ Back to top
How much does it cost?
RealtyVID is extending the FREE posting period until the market substantially improves. We understand the burden placed on agents and we want to help them as much as possible. In the future we may have to start charging a small fee to cover our expenses. Until then, enjoy our hospitality. All listings posted in the FREE period will remain FREE for the life of the listing.

How long does it take?
Taking a video of the first house will take a professional about 30 minutes for a home averaging 3,000 sq feet under air. If you want to take your own videos to make your listing movie (we make it easy with the RealtyVID Software) it will take you longer the first time but you will end up saving big bucks over time.
For the Do-It-Yourselfers: We recommend experimenting with a regular digital camera in movie mode when taking video of properties targeted at younger buyers. This is the fastest and least expensive route to getting the video online. The video will be a little shaky but the younger buyer doesn’t mind as much.
Remember, you’re trying to sell a house not win an Oscar. A three minute video can be taken with a digital camera and uploaded to the site in minutes, travel time not included.
Why do I need to “Download Software”?

Why should I bother with video?

Do you want to reach your audience?
Why do I see a button to “Get Microsoft Silverlight”?
Silverlight is software that plays the video in the web browser. It is not required because we support Flash and Silverlight but with Silverlight you and your buyers will have a richer web experience.
At the 2007 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Convention Silverlight won the Best of Show Award and industry experts recognize Silverlight as supporting the preferred streaming video standard. Since our goal is to provide the viewing audience with the best possible experience we provide the option of streaming video in Microsoft Silverlight.
How do I update or delete a movie once it is online?
In the agent administration page there is a “Status” field where the agent changes the status of the listing. Here is the meaning of the different options.
Active – property is visible to the public
Pending – property is not visible to public but remains in list as an active listing
Suspended – property is not visible to public but remains in list as an inactive listing
Inactive – property is flagged for delete and will be removed automatically
If you want to change an existing listing, set the one on our site to inactive and re-upload the property using the RealtyVID software.
Hardware Requirements Back to top
In order to run the RealtyVid Video Maker software, we recommend the following:
1.5-gigahertz (GHz) processor or faster
Windows Vista or Windows XP
512 MB of RAM or higher (higher is recommended)
Video Card with 128 MB RAM or higher
The encoder turns your video into an internet-ready movie. The
movie is then automatically transmitted to this internet site when you click
send. For optimal viewing of the video on our site, you and your clients will need:
A high speed internet connection such as DSL or Cable.
Camera or Camcorder? Back to top
The RealtyVid Video Making software will translate any recording from AVI, MPG or WMV format to an internet-ready movie. Any modern camera or camcorder that has computer upload capabilities should work.
If you are using an
older camera or camcorder, you may find it challenging to transfer the video
from your camera to your computer. We recommend that you work with a newer
digital camera/camcorder because:
The footage you capture will be of higher quality, and
Transfer of the footage from the camera to your computer will be easier.
Hi-Def cameras are not required
A digital camera with a “Movie” mode will work great!
Tips for Taking Good Videos Back to top
The video footage that you create for your sales presentations will ultimately become part of your personal
signature. However, if you are just beginning to explore this new world, you may want to consider the following:
Remember you’re telling a story through a movie, not a photograph or a virtual tour.
Look at examples of other videos on our site. Think about what other agents have done that is effective and what is not.
Know what you are going to video before your start.
Perform a practice run by walking the path that you will follow when actually recording the video.
Know where you are going to stop and turn in each room before going to the next.
Do lots of takes, particularly of important scenes.
If you have to walk down a long hallway or up stairs and don’t want the
footage to be bumpy, then consider stopping the camera. Restart the camera when
you get to the next scene. Leaving out long walks through empty corridors will
create smaller clips and save valuable video time.
Don’t move too quickly or too slowly. You should be able to show a whole
room in three to seven seconds (more if the room is larger).
Try shooting some scenes so that the camera enters the room. Passing the
camera through a doorway will give the viewer a sense of place in the room.
DO NOT take video footage of valuable collections!
Pay attention to mirrors. If you capture yourself in a mirror, do it on purpose – not as an accident.
A high resolution digital camera (with video capture) will work just fine. The video will not
be professional quality and may bounce a bit but you’ll be surprised how well it
turns out. It makes the video seem "real."
Learn how your camera responds to sudden lighting changes. Practice panning your camera past
windows and notice whether the room fades around the bright, outside light. Try
filming at dusk so that the interior lighting is in balance with the outside
lighting. You are going to want to see the view from the window, so don’t wait
until it’s too dark!
Review your video carefully before posting it to our site. Take a look at
the periphery of the frame, and look through the windows and doors that are
shown. Watch for anything that might be embarrassing to the owner. You may have
been focusing your eye on a particular object in the room, while the camera was
capturing something unexpected through an open window!
Most importantly, don’t be afraid to try new video techniques and to make
it fun. The seller will appreciate it and the buyer will find your video more
intimate!

RealtyVid offers member agents the opportunity to provide
branding within the frame for the video player. For example:
Our branding service is offered for a one time setup fee of $149.95. If you would like to have your

Agent Login area and select the “Purchase Agent Branding” option. You will be guided through the
process.
